This workshop will explore handstands as a creative acrobatic/movement tool.
Not focusing on the stillness of the discipline but what movement qualities, transitions/postions, entries and exits we can find. Loosening up the sometimes rigid practice.
Since studying circus at Rosny and DOCH, Matt toured with world renowned company, Les 7 Doigts de la Main, in the show Triptyque. He has co-founded a mono-disciplined handstand company Right Way Down Circus and a multi-disciplined company FAUNA Circus, the latter winning several awards at Adelaide and Edinburgh fringes.
Matt was most recently approached by Finnish company Kallo Collective to create his own version of Only Bones - a minimalist physical theatre and performance project first started by Thom Monkton. Using uniform and restrictive parameters, solo performers create their own unique live shows all with a similar aesthetic.

What to Expect: A deep dive into an exploration of your existing movement practice and introducing new ways to open your mind for your perfomance.
Requirements: An intermediate level, minimum 30seconds to 1 minute handstand hold

A Martial Arts disciple from the rolling quaintness of the Cotswolds, relentlessly training Kung Fu, unknowingly preparing his body to eventually run away to the circus..... Finally I did at the ripe age of 22.
I started Circus school at ENACR in Paris, during these 2 years I did my crash course in Circus, but the icy winds of the north were calling. So I followed and ended up in Sweden at DOCH, where I spent the next 3 years working with a mix of Martial Arts, Acro/Movement and high Handstand technique to create my own unique performative style.
After graduating I went directly to work with the world renowned company Les 7 Doigts de la Main in the show Triptyque and after co-founding the company FAUNAcircus which won several awards at Adelaide and Edinburgh fringes. I went on to co-found mono discipline handstand company Right Way Down and more recently been part of the Only Bones franchise with v1.9 in collaboration with Kallo Collective.
Lately I have started to work more in film, with a passion for fight choreography and stunts, using my roots in martial arts, integrated with the performative and acrobatic sides of circus to bring a somewhat unique melting pot of skills to the screen.
