The main indicator is a consistent 60-second freestanding handstand with good line. You should also be training regularly (4+ times per week), have multiple entries (press, kick-up, straddle), and be able to perform shape changes. Most importantly, you should have no current injuries, especially in shoulders, wrists, or back. When in doubt, send us a video of your practice for assessment - we're happy to provide honest feedback about whether this retreat is right for you.
That's completely expected and actually the point of the retreat! You don't need to already have one-arm handstands, Mexican handstand, or advanced shapes. This retreat teaches these skills from the ground up. The prerequisites ensure you have the foundational strength, balance, and body awareness to learn these advanced techniques safely and effectively. Think of it this way: the prerequisites get you in the door, and we'll take you from there to the next level.
Absolutely! Many participants are yoga teachers, circus artists, movement coaches, or performers looking to refine their skills and expand their teaching repertoire. The retreat includes performance and artistry modules covering sequence creation, musical interpretation, and stage presence. We also discuss teaching methodology and spotting techniques, so you can safely guide your students through advanced progressions. The professional photos and videos from the retreat are perfect for your portfolio or promotional materials.
You'll leave with a personalized 3-month training program based on your specific goals and the skills we worked on during the retreat. This isn't a generic program - it's tailored to your body, your schedule, and your objectives. Plus, you'll have lifetime access to our advanced practitioner community where members share progress videos, troubleshoot challenges, and support each other's journey. We also offer follow-up video analysis sessions (sold separately) to keep your progress on track.
