Movement Programs For Schools

Half day and full day holiday programs, group sessions and after school classes - two minutes from Oakleigh Station

Beyond Movement is a calisthenics and movement studio at 37-41 Warrigal Road, Hughesdale - two minutes walk from Oakleigh Station, and within a short walk or a few stops of most secondary schools in the area. We already run dedicated classes for 12 to 17 year olds, and we run programs for school groups on top of that.

What we teach is bodyweight training, handstands and hand balance, calisthenics skills and soft acrobatics. It is coached, it is progressive, and it is deliberately built so that a student with no sporting background can take part alongside one who plays three sports. There is no team selection, nobody sits on a bench, and nobody is asked to demonstrate anything in front of the group.

What We Run For School Groups

Everything below is arranged directly with the school rather than booked online, so group size, timing and focus are set to suit your students. Tell us roughly what you have in mind and we will come back with an outline and a quote.

Half Day Holiday Program

A morning or afternoon block, at our studio or yours. Movement prep, a coached rotation across floor, bars and rings, and a group challenge to finish. Suits a year level activity day, or a holiday session where students are dropped off and picked up either side.

Full Day Holiday Program

A full day with a supervised break in the middle. The morning covers foundations and skill work, the afternoon goes further into hand balance and soft acrobatics, and students leave having done something they could not do that morning.

Weekly Kids & Teens Classes

Our ongoing classes for 12 to 17 year olds run Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:00pm to 4:45pm - a start time set deliberately around the end of the school day. Families enrol directly; we are happy for you to pass it on.

Small Groups, Properly Coached

Group sizes are kept small on purpose. It means every student is seen, corrected and encouraged by name, and it means skills are spotted and progressed rather than attempted hopefully.

Sessions are run by our own coaching team at our own venue, so equipment, matting and progressions are all set up before your group arrives. We will talk through student numbers, supervision and any access needs when we scope the program with you.

Getting Here

The studio is at 37-41 Warrigal Road, Hughesdale. For a lot of schools in this catchment the trip is short enough that students already make it independently.

Two Minutes From Oakleigh Station

On the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines. Hughesdale, Murrumbeena and Carnegie are one to three stops one way; Huntingdale, Clayton and Westall are one to three stops the other.

Walking Distance For Some

Sacred Heart Girls' College is further along the same street. Oakleigh Grammar is on Willesden Road, a short walk away. Salesian College sits between Warrigal and Huntingdale Roads and uses the same two stations.

Drop Off And Parking

Free on-street parking on Willesden Road and Swindon Road. For a group program we will confirm a drop off and pick up arrangement with you in advance.

Questions From Coordinators

Our weekly classes are for 12 to 17 year olds. For a school group program we can work with a specific year level or a mixed band - tell us the ages and we will pitch the session accordingly.

No. Beginners are the norm here, not the exception. Every activity has a regression and a progression, so a mixed ability group works fine - that is the normal case, not a special arrangement.

Either. At our studio in Hughesdale you get the rings, bars, matting and hand balance equipment already set up, which is the richer session - but the room caps the group at 12-14.

We also come to you. A school hall, gym or oval works, and running it at your venue is how a larger group gets accommodated, because the ceiling becomes your space and the number of coaches we bring rather than our room. Tell us what your space is like and we will say what we can run in it.

At our studio, the same as any other class here - small groups of 12-14 max. That is a limit of the room rather than a rule about coaching. It is what the space holds properly, so a larger year level gets split across sessions.

Run the program at your own venue instead - a hall, a gym, an oval - and larger groups are no problem. Two things set the number: how much space you have, and how many coaches we bring. More coaches means more students, so a full year level is workable if that is what you need. Tell us the venue and the numbers and we will tell you what it takes.

School group programs are quoted rather than listed, and there is genuine room to move - the price depends on group size, duration and how many coaches the session needs, and we would rather find something that works for your budget than lose the booking over it. Send us the shape of what you have in mind and we will come back with a number.

Our coaches hold current Working with Children Checks and the studio is insured. We will work to whatever your school requires for excursions - supervision ratios, risk assessment and consent paperwork - and we are used to filling these in.

Enquire About A School Program

Tell us your school, the year level or ages, roughly how many students, and whether you are after a half day, a full day or something else. We will come back with an outline and a quote.
